Rinsola Babajide Marks Roma Debut With Goal as Nigerian Duo Impress

Nigerian forward Rinsola Babajide made a stellar Serie A debut for AS Roma, scoring in the 28th minute to help her team to a 4–0 victory over Parma.

While reports state that "Nigerian duo shine," Babajide’s strike was the headliner from the weekend, as she opened her league account with a composed finish, assisted by Manuela Giugliano.

The game was otherwise dominated by Roma, who grabbed goals early and built control throughout. Babajide’s contribution added to a convincing performance by the club.

We see Babajide’s debut goal not simply as a moment of personal triumph, but as a loud statement of intent. Making a breakthrough start at a new club is no small feat especially in a demanding league like Serie A. Her ability to slot in quickly and score shows she is ready, mentally and technically, for fresh challenges.

That said, one good game is not a career. Maintaining form, adapting to defensive tactics, and surviving phases of adversity will test her far more. Roma will expect consistency, not occasional brilliance, and Babajide now carries both opportunity and burden.

Her presence also rekindles conversations about how Nigerian female talent is being integrated into Europe’s elite leagues. When a Nigerian player makes an immediate impact, it reflects well on scouting, development pathways, and the belief that our stars can compete globally.

We expect Babajide to build on this start. If she keeps delivering, she can become not just a contributor, but a for Roma and for the Super Falcons. Tonight’s goal is more than a debut—it may be the first page of a new chapter.

Did You Know?

Rinsola Babajide has represented both England at youth levels and Nigeria at senior level, switching allegiances in 2023.

Her goal on debut made it her first [league goal](https://www.footballinnigeria.com.ng/local-clubs-and-academies/unlock-football-dreams-top-5-free-academies-in-nigeria/) for Roma, though she had already scored in Coppa Italia.

Babajide’s finish came in the 28th minute, equalising Roma’s second goal in that match.

She joined Roma in July 2025, on a contract intended to run until June 2027.

Before Roma, Babajide played for clubs including Liverpool, Brighton, Real Betis, and UDG Tenerife.
